Registration Information
Registration for the Special Olympics 2025 National Summer Games (NSG) is open from 28 April through to 11 July 2025.
To ensure your team is registered to attend the NSG both the Sport Registration and Event and Logistics Information forms and documentation need to be complete and submitted by 11 July.
Refund Policy
As with previous games all instalments become non-refundable on the instalment due date. If an athlete or team management member then becomes unable to attend the Games due to injury or other reason we will work with Clubs on a case by case basis to refund what we can depending on the time of cancellation. At the conclusion of the Games once a full reconciliation has taken place, further consideration will be given to any further return of funds that might be possible.
If, for any reason the games are cancelled, SONZ will endeavour to make a refund to clubs as follows:
Any cancellation up to Friday 22 October will result in a partial refund, where possible once a full reconciliation has taken place. This will be based on contribution from clubs, any sponsorship and grant funding not required to be returned less expenses already incurred, including deposits to secure venues and accommodation.
Any cancellation within 7 days of the games is unlikely to result in a refund as most costs would have been incurred, however we will refund if there are any surplus funds from the Games budget once a full reconciliation has taken place.
It is important that you share this information with every individual on your team, to ensure they are aware of this prior to registering for the Games.

Frequently Asked Questions
Please find answers to frequently asked questions around registration below! If you have a question that isn't answered below, please email registrations@specialolympics.org.nz
Where should I include details of reserve athletes?
We appreciate the comms piece asked that you did not include reserve athletes in the form, but after an internal discussion we would like these athletes included in your sport registration form.
Please enter your team reserves (currently non traveling athletes) in the sports registration form. All reserve athletes should be noted as such by including the word ‘Reserve’ in the NOTES section of the sports registration form. If a reserve athlete will be a member of a team, then their team name should also include the word ‘Reserve’ (eg. ‘Akl1 Reserve’).
Do we need to include reserve athletes on release form?
Yes please.
Where do I find our Unified Athletes and how do I enter them on the form?
Unified Partners already in our system will appear as you begin typing their name in the athlete section of the form.
If the person you're trying to enter doesn't appear in the list, please manually add their information.
How do we register a combined team? (e.g a team made up of different clubs?)
Each club is responsible for entering their own athletes on their respective forms. If you're combining with another club to form a team, please agree on a team name in advance. Both clubs must use the same team name on their forms so we can manually merge the teams. Please include the name of the club you're combining with in the NOTES section of the form.
Bocce – how do I enter an athlete into both team and pair events? There is only one event column.
For Bocce, we appreciate that there is only one event column on the entry form. If you are entering an athlete that is competing in both teams and pairs, please list the athlete twice on the form. We will ensure they are entered into both events.
